Here's an interesting blog exchange from the new Lion of the Blogosphere blog concerning the newly released movie, Les Miserables:
I’ve also managed to get this far in life knowing very little about the period of French history in which Les Miserables takes place. I blame the mediocre public school system for this gap in my education. (I highly recommend sending your kids to private school if you can afford it.)

Stuyvesant has the same public school teachers and public school curriculum as other NYC high schools, for the most part.
It's only a "good" school because it restricts the student body to those smart enough to score very high on the entrance exam.
Thanks for commenting Lion. I was aware that Stuyvesant drew from the regular corps of teachers. I blogged on the fact that what made the Stuyvesant great was the concentration of good students on May 12, 2012. I would think students could cover a lot more ground at Stuyvesant simply because there would be no waiting around for the slow students to catch up.
